Karin Muhlert (Scotland)

"() Paper may appear fragile, easily damaged and almost ephemeral, prone to the destructive effects of time, the elements and today's throw-away culture. However, for me it is a strong, flexible and immensely versatile medium through which I am able to express my artistic intentions. Using rolls of re-cycled paper, I take a three-dimensional, sculptural approach to my work. Discarded paper carries a long memory embedded in it, ready to be written on again. My sculptures have become my handwriting. The shoreline inspires many of my pieces called Sea-Cells with their familiar forms. Others are influenced by nature itself and the element of chance, as is the case in my piece Metamorphosis I. ()"
